What I Wore Today - The Perfect Knit
Knit ties are a favorite for the majority of the menswear-loving crowd and for good reason. They can be extremely versatile and they offer a great way to dress down a suit. Knit ties fell out of favor with me though over the last year for one main reason; they just aren’t offered in widths that I prefer.
As I have mentioned several times before, I am a larger guy and I have been getting even larger since my son was born due to my inability to be as active as I once was. I started to find that the typrical 2.5” to 3” knit ties no longer worked for me the way I wanted them to. Hence, I reached for them less and less. The same thing has happened to all of my ties below 3.25” for the most part.
I almost lost hope until I had a conversation with my friend Jay of The Knottery a few months ago. In the midst of exchange he mentioned that he had been experimenting with a wider knit tie that featured a pointed edge and he wanted to know what I thought. After I enthusiastically exclaimed that I was all about that idea he offered to send me a sample.
All I can say is - I’m in love. The Nine Realms have aligned! This is the quintessential knit tie width in my opinion. I now have a knit tie to reach for again. Keep an eye out on theknottery.com for an official release in the future, you won’t be disappointed.
In an unrelated note, I haven’t been posting as much these days due to an extremely busy work schedule. My apologies. Today I went with one of my standard combinations, but subbed in a floral pocket square I haven’t worn in quite some time. I like the result.
